What
is iLabel?
iLabel is a prepackaged machine vision application with specialized
tools for inspecting labels.
Where can it be used?
iLabel is an ideal solution for inspecting labels on ridged packaged
goods such as boxed, canned, and bottled goods. It is not meant
for inspecting labels on flexible packages, such as plastic bags.
What makes it easy to use?
The intuitive, graphical user interface is customized for labeling
applications and designed to be used by someone familiar with a
packaging line but not necessarily with machine vision. iLabel's
neural net quickly learns what the label "looks like",
so training is done simply by showing iLabel good labels. There
is no laborious set up of detailed inspection parameters, text location,
etc.
What if my production line is miles away?
No problem! Our web browser interface enables you to quickly check
the status of an iLabel solution on your production line whether
it is a few feet or half a world away.
What kinds of inspections can iLabel do?
iLabel checks that the proper label is on the package, and that
it is the proper label, that the label is correctly positioned,
that the placement angle is within set limits. It then checks for
flags, tears and missing parts of the label as well as for gross
defects such as smears, contamination and splatters.
Can
iLabel check for the print quality of my label?
No, this should be done by the label manufacturer before the label
is applied to the package. Call Dalsa
for print inspection vision systems.
How robust is the underlying technology?
iLabel utilizes the same libraries that are used by DALSA OEM customers. We've
drawn on our extensive expertise to make iLabel very robust and
fast.
Does iLabel read the bar codes, data
or lot codes?
Currently, iLabel reads 1D bar codes only.
Do I need a PLC?
Not necessarily. DALSA Vision Appliances have extensive hardware
support for part-in-place detection; strobe illumination; camera
trigger; and part counting for delayed pass, fail and rework part
sorting.
How fast is it?
iLabel can do up to 300 label inspections per minute.
What size labels can I inspect?
iLabel can inspect labels from 1" to over 10".
Can I use iLabel to diagnose line problems?
iLabel records the images of recently passed and failed labels as
well as statistics on all labels. You can review this information
to help you find production line problems.
What if I need help in choosing the correct
lighting, staging and lens for my application?
For iLabel to work, you must provide a clear and consistent view
of the label. This requires proper staging (fixturing), lighting
and an appropriate lens. ipd provides web tools and other resources
to help you choose these items. In addition, we have qualified vendors
for these items who are eager to help you.
